University secured a one-all draw against Plenty Valley Lions in wet conditions.
In their first home match of the year, University were faced with an enthusiastic opponent who controlled the game in the opening 15 minutes.
Plenty Valley's persistence eventually led to a goal after a brilliant individual effort from their striker.
Following the half time break, it was obvious that University had tired their opponent in the scrappy first half. University came out firing and
were unlucky not to score three early chances.
Pat Devuno's 20-yard shot was blocked by the keeper, but the ball bounced back into play for Damir Mitric to take his second goal of the season.
University dominated Plenty Valley's half, and should have gone into the lead with chances falling to Devuno and Lino. Cuong Pham and Anthony Deluca produced some inspiring midfield moves. John Clark played a strong match on the left wing. The University defence were barely tested in the second half.
The difficult conditions made the going tough for both teams. Plenty Valley held on for the match to end in a draw.
University remain top of the league (with a one game advantage).
University reserves team secured their second win of the season with a convincing 4-1 victory.
