University celebrated its annual "Past Players Day" in style with a 6-2 thrashing of Sydenham Park.

Playing some of its best football in its 40-year history, University showcased the depth of its talent as six different players scored.

John Clark started the goal fest after a clever back-heal from striker Damir Mitric gave Clark space to smash the ball into the top left corner.

Only a few minutes later, University's dead ball specialist Anthony De Luca delivered a piercing free kick into Sydenham's penalty box. Wojtek Randla moved in front of the keeper to calmly head the ball into the net.

Paul Umina and Clark soon exhausted their direct opponents, and systematically tore apart Sydenham with the extra space. Their hard work led to a number of chances that could have easily put University four goals up going into the half time break.

University returned to the pitch with as much intensity as the first half. The Sydenham goal was peppered with shots with only the goal post denying University a bigger win.

Umina was fouled in the penalty area and Lino Lidestri converted to put University three goals up.

Mitric then took his chance when he found himself with a clear shot as Sydenham failed to clear the ball from a goal-mouth scramble.

Sydenham clawed back a goal half way through the second half when Paul Williams managed to crack the University defence and slot the ball into the goal.

University substituted Marco Finanzio and Lucas Koraitsas into the game and keen to get in on the action, both added their names to the score sheet.

Finanzio was the first to score when another goal-mouth scramble was not cleared from the Sydenham penalty box leaving Finanzio with an open chance on goal.

A shattered Sydenham defence was further embarrassed when Koraitsas was allowed to pounce on a pass that a defender and the Sydenham keeper attempted to clear but totally missed the ball. Some 20 metres clear of any other player, Koraitsas guided the ball into the Sydenham goal.

Sydenham player, Darryl Spiteri, found a late consultation goal but it did little to sour the victory for University who face top of the ladder Cairnlea next week.
