Corio SC Vs LUSC Mens Reserves

Having come off a loss in round one that left a bitter taste in the mouths of all associated with the Ressies team, bouncing back was everyone’s priority. With a couple of personnel changes and the implementation of two senior players, Coach DePetro was confident LUSC would come home with three points. After being taught the rules of the game in a 20 minute spiel from the referee, the whistle was blown. There was no doubting LUSC started the game far more spritely than their Corio opponents and the hum in the stands was more of when will they score rather than if.

Their expectations were met deep into the first half with some precision passing as young Daniel Tasevski put home the opener and sent the Corio fans reeling! Whistle blown, quick drink, strategical chat and off the Reds went to destroy their opponents in the second half…

Second Half: Enter Frank Petkovic. Due to unforeseen circumstances, ‘Petka’ was unable to get to the game on time, therefore left his entrance until the second half. LUSC conceded a cheap goal at the hands of a crude tackle by Laurie. LUSC officials are still amiss as to what he actually did to give the free kick up. Apparently if a player tries to take your leg off, you’ve committed the foul. No more than a minute after the restart though, LUSC restored their lead with some hard work from their midfield in setting up Matt Girardin. The highlight of the game without a doubt came from Petka. After being played through, Petka’s dummy, reminiscent of Pele`s goal in the 1970 World Cup, sent the defender the wrong way, parting the Red Sea like Moses. 3-1. And so it ended. Coach DePetro stuffing the three points in his pocket, took the Princes Fwy to the Lower Playing Fields with his squad in tow.
