Preseason.....yes, already!!

2008 was another exciting season for our great Club. We achieved three Championships and a runners-up pennant, and our seniors after a long tough year avoided relegation on the last day of the season to finish on a high.
As usual, your committee has been working hard in the off season to make sure we are prepared for next year. Here is the latest coaching and pre-season news:

COACHING APPOINTMENTS

SENIORS COACH
Our club is pleased to announce that the Men’s senior coach for 2009 will be John Gillespie. John coached our seniors in 2007 when they finished in a very creditable 5th position. After taking a year off coaching John is looking forward to working at our club again and taking on the challenge of bringing success to our seniors.

ASSISTANT COACH
Our Club has appointed Rafael Rodrigues as Seniors Assistant coach. Apart from helping the senior coach Raf will also be working with all other coaches and overseeing all teams.

RESERVES COACH
Arch Giotopoulos has been re-appointed as reserves coach. Arch took over late in the 2008 season and did a great job with our young developing players.

THIRDS / EAGLES / WOMEN
Coaches for these teams have not been finalised. If anyone knows of someone who is interested in filling one of these positions please let us know.


PRE-SEASON TRAINING

Seniors and Reserves Squads Pre-season training will commence on Thursday the 8th of January and be held on the following days until the commencement of the season:
  • Tuesdays 7pm
  • Thursdays 7pm
  • Saturdays: 10:30am to 12:00pm



SEASON STARTING DATES


We have been advised by the FFV that the starting dates for the men’s competitions will be:
  • Seniors/Reserves – Saturday 21st of March
  • Thirds, Eagles, Old Boys – Sunday the 28th of April
This is a slightly earlier starting date than usual so it’s vital that you begin your pre-season early so you are prepared for round one. Finally, we look forward to seeing you back at the LUSC “Fields of Dreams” and wish you the best of luck in what promised to be another exciting year in 2009.
